problem with avi files

Postby raider on Thu Jul 29, 2010 11:46 am

Hi to all, I use Win7 x64 and I have a problem with xvid4psp v5.0.37. How to force xvid4psp to use the installed k-lite codecs and ffdshow? When I convert avi (divx or xvid), xvid4psp not use installed ffdshow codec. When I convert any other format such as mkv, then everything is okay and then he use ffdshow. What's the problem with the avi format that he not use installed ffdshow? Please note that I use Win7 x64. That may not be a problem with Microsoft Media Foundation!? I hope that someone would help me. Thanks in advance!

1. Make sure that in ffdshow codec(s), that used in your AVI files, is enabled (in ffdshow settings).
2. Use this tool to set up decoders on Win7.

How about 1-st step? You must enable DivX decoding in the ffdshow decoding settings.

Yes, this is enabled, as in your picture. It is always enabled by default.

Ok. What decoder used in XviD4PSP for AVI with DivX? Open such file and then press "edit script" button (or AviSynth->Edit filtering script). If you can see DirectShowSource("your_file") - then DirectShow is used, but I don`t know why it is not ffdshow. If there (in the script) will be FFmpegSource("your_file") - then this AVI can`t be opened using DirectShow, and XviD4PSP used FFmpegSource. Switching from DirectShowSource to FFmpegSource will be every time if: 1) video can`t be decodec by DirectShow; 2) audio can`t be decoded by DirectShow.

Ok so here's ... I open some Divx movie and in AviSynth scripts written that he use DirectShowSource. But I have no idea what DirectShow actually, because I see that it's not ffdshow. More and more I believe that this was the Windows DirectShow, which can not be breaked with Win7DSTweaker, and I really do not know why this is so, because with Xvid everything works normally. Damn win7 x64!!!

Here is the pic from AviSynth scripts

//edit: Divx only works when I turn on the option "Disable Mpeg4s Decoder DMO" in Win7DSTweaker.

@forclip, since you are the author of unofficial version Xvid4psp, did you hear that someone else with win7 x64 has this problem as I have?
Will you soon to do some new version without this bugs?

Here is a another bug...
When I convert AVI with ac3 in AVI with mp3 (cbr 128kbps), it is always out of sync sound and film.
Here is audio info of that avi with ac3

Audio
ID : 1
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Mode extension : CM (complete main)
Codec ID : 2000
Duration : 2h 20mn
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 192 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Channel positions : Front: L R
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Video delay : 24ms
Stream size : 193 MiB (14%)
Alignment : Split accross interleaves
Interleave, duration : 40 ms (1.00 video frame)
Interleave, preload duration : 500 ms
----------------------------------------------------------------
If you look better, you'll see the line "Video delay" that says 24ms, which means that the sound should have delayed for 24ms. In xvid4psp ->audio processing -> option for delaying is checked to be like in input file. And as you can see, all is well tuned, and I still get the output file which is out of sync, such that the delay does not respond to mp3. What should I do?

I had heard about various problems with Win7 (32 and 64), and most of the time the problem is in internal (Win7) decoders, so this tweaker can help. What can I do in XviD4PSP?

About out of sync. 24ms - it is unnoticeable delay (less than 1 frame), and this is not the problem. The problem, probably, is how the source-file is decoded. Did you hear any sync problems in the preview monitor?
